Starting Out, Keeping On

It’s December and we have already had two memorable ice hockey events in a season just getting underway. In October, Nathaniel’s pre-season Midget team moved through the bracket in the Tier 1 New Hampshire Ice Hockey Association’s fall tournament, including a five overtime win against Nashua, and an exciting championship game that went the way of the New Hampshire Avalanche 4-1.

Ellinore’s Shamrocks U-14 team traveled to Hyannis, Massachusetts, for the Cranberry Classic Ice Hockey Tournament. Seventy-fours girls teams showed up (ten in the top tier U-14 division in which we were playing). The girls played well, going 4-1 in the preliminary round and then falling in a tight game 1-2 against Charles River.

The high school season starts next week for the sixteen-year-old boy. The fourteen-year-old girl, playing on the Brattleboro Bantam team, will also join the Shamrocks at the Polar Bear tournament at the Taft School in Connecticut.

And the fifty-three-year-old guy? He plays on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
