Nathaniel decided to do a mountain bike camp this summer at the grammar school. This decision then suggested to him that he needed a new bike.
The group of pre-teen boys gathered every day for a week to ride the trails around Putney, Vermont. They covered about one hundred miles and, for at least a week, slept well at night.
Mark and Rebecca decided that the boy’s interest in mountain biking might be a chance for us to get back in the saddle and so we took our bikes into our friend Tim Chock who is a master at restoring old bikes. Our bikes, now classics, are once again greasy and ready to go. I needed a new chainring and cables as the years commuting in Seattle had taken their toll. Rebecca’s bike needed less work. And what of the girl? Well, Rebecca’s tenants from hell in Bellows Falls left, among other things, a bike. And so Ellinore has a new set of wheels as well.
