Ice Capades

If one of your bestest of friends and ice hockey teammates graduates from high school and you happen to be playing in an ice hockey tournament in Burlington, Vermont, and your team does not make the tournament finals, and you know that at one in the afternoon your bestest of friends will be stepping out on the ice with her college team, the two-time defending Division III national champion Plattsburgh Cardinals, then there is no reason not to drive up the lake to ferry across Lake Champlain and head over to the SUNY Plattsburgh campus to take in the game.

Our favorite number 18, Courtney (Court) Moriarty lining up for the first shift of the first game of her college campaign

And so we did. And we enjoyed seeing a great game of hockey with Courtney (who after the game told us she was nervous as all get out) playing great as the team began working out the early season kinks.

The Cardinals ended up with a 5-4 victory over a skilled team from Canada, the Dawson College Blues. We are looking forward to catching another game as the Cards begin their ECAC schedule.
